Or now my generator got it's production reduced by 15% forever. Now all my humans are conjoined twins, and all my odd-numbered buildings are losing efficiency when I was already operating on a constant razor-thin margin. But every time I'd 'get in the zone' shuffling half a dozen humans into different buildings - or into the bio reactor - an event would pop up, give me a ton of answers to pick, and then ruin my game irreversibly. There's a clear ton of effort put into this game, and the concept of constantly shuffling and managing humans is actually really engaging. Everything else is just a slight upside for a moderate downside. There are even several events that punish you multiple times, and make you pick a new answer after your last one was 'wrong.' I've very rarely come across an event that was strictly beneficial, literally only producing food and offspring a little faster. At which point you should just reset because you'll very steadily fall behind if they hit any structure other than your food producing building. Every single one of them will normally just punish you: Kill your humans, drain your power, delete your food, break a structure for a day, or the worst one of all: Permanently nerf a structure's production. It's usually the same, every few cycles a window pops up and gives you a ton of options.

The events, are the single thing that makes the game replayable and breaks up the monotony - and it's a shame that nearly all of them are complete negatives.

And again, only upgrade your structures one at a time, a single time. There's nothing you can do with a surplus of power other than wait, then finally try to catch up after the cap (and your power 'tax') is raised. What bothers me is how you can only upgrade each building once, and then you need to wait for your power cap to be raised so you can do it all over again. You can also use power to upgrade your production buildings. Every 'day' requires you to pay food and power 5 times in set intervals just to stay alive. The game is brutal, and not in planning or execution on the player's part, but simply by how the game's systems are put into place. However, the novelty of the game wears off pretty quickly when you're forced to restart for the 8th time because a single event set you on an un-recoverable downwards spiral. The game seems to pride itself on it's own absolute contempt for the player, which I suppose is on brand given how the main character is an AI that loathes humans.
